Two ButtesTwo Buttes is one of the smallest incorporated "cities" in the state. The population in the town is about 50, however many buildings and structures remain from its heyday when the population was around 2000. The town was founded under the formation of the dam at Two Buttes creek making Two Buttes Reservoir and was officially incorporated in 1911. Today the reservoir is used by local county residents for boating, canoeing and jet skiing when the water level allows. VilasVilas, Colorado is a statutory town located about 11 miles from the county seat of Springfield. Originally platted in 1887, Vilas was historically a cattle ranching town that survived the dust bowl days and once competed for the county seat. Today Vilas is a small but thriving town that is home to approximately 120 residents and a K-12 School.
