Office Clerk- Rehab. Dept.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Is responsible for administrative tasks which include patient file management, paperwork regulation monitoring, patient scheduling, month-end billing and statistics management, rehabilitation department annual calendar maintenance and clerical duties. Interviews patients or their representatives to collect and verify required data for registration form that includes name, address, phone number, attending physician and individual or agency responsible for bill. Enters patient information into computer database. Obtains required signatures on forms according to established procedures, and ensures information recorded is complete and accurate. Assembles patient files that include registration forms and photocopies of insurance cards and photo ID, collect co-pays and writes receipts. Process new patient referrals and authorizations when appropriate. Greet patients, create a friendly helpful contact and monitor waiting time prior to medical appointment. Makes inquiries for accident and insurance information in a knowledgeable and friendly manner, assembles patient files, and forwards to nursing unit. Directs or escorts patients to waiting area. Assist with filing charts/paperwork, scheduling and answering phones as needed. Input outpatient data using different types of insurance, bill codes, occurrence codes and accident codes. Inform patients of different types of insurance/assistance programs available. Maintain sufficient levels of office supplies and ensure that office equipment is in good working condition. Greet customers and create a friendly helpful contact. Monitor waiting rooms for cleanliness, stock magazines and educational literature as needed. Attends in-service sessions, as directed. Maintains regular attendance and punctuality. Performs other assigned duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Education or equivalent. Proficient computer skills. Knowledge of filing records. Requires strong people skills and written and verbal communication. Excellent organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail. Must be professional, flexible, and exhibit a congenial and sensitive attitude toward patients. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members.
Current Colorado C.N.A. license is preferred, must be willing to become a C.N.A.
